Consulting for Engineering

Design of Experiment
Design of Experiment (DOE) is a methodology for formulating scientific and engineering problems using statistical models. The protocol specifies a randomization procedure for the experiment and specifies the primary data-analysis, particularly in hypothesis testing. In a secondary analysis, the statistical analyst further examines the data to suggest other questions and to help plan future experiments.
Our statisticians are capable of examining the data in further depth to suggest other questions and help to further experiments, in order to achieve goals such as optimizing a process or product. Taguchi's method, variance reduction, adaptive sampling schemes, and various mathematical optimization techniques will be used adequately towards the end.
Quality and Reliability Engineering
Quality control emphasizes testing of products to uncover defects and reporting to management who make the decision to allow or deny product release, whereas quality assurance attempts to improve and stabilize production (and associated processes) to avoid, or at least minimize, issues which led to the defect(s) in the first place. In today's high-technology world, with flourishing e-business and intense competition at a global level, the search for the competitive advantage has become a crucial task of corporate executives. Quality Engineering, formerly considered a secondary expense, is now universally recognized as a necessary tool.
Reliability engineering consists of the systematic application of time-honored engineering principles and techniques throughout a product lifecycle and is thus an essential component of a good Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) program. The goal of reliability engineering is to evaluate the inherent reliability of a product or process and pinpoint potential areas for reliability improvement. Realistically, all failures cannot be eliminated from a design, so another goal of reliability engineering is to identify the most likely failures and then identify appropriate actions to mitigate the effects of those failures
Probabilistic Design
Probabilistic Design deals primarily with the consideration of the effects of random variability upon the performance of an engineering system during the design phase. Typically, the goal of probabilistic design is to identify the design that will exhibit the smallest effects of random variability. This could be the one design option out of several that is found to be most robust. Alternatively, it could be the only design option available, but with the optimum combination of input variables and parameters. This second approach is sometimes referred to as robustification, parameter design or design for six sigma.
Time and Methods Engineering
Time and Methods Engineering is a subspecialty of industrial engineering and manufacturing engineering concerned with human integration in industrial production processes. Lowering costs and increasing reliability and productivity are the objectives of methods engineering which can be met effectively by bringing in the insights from data analysis.
Some of our example projects in various fields of Engineering can be found in Projects in Engineering.
